If you are interested in playing D1 athletics in college, you need to complete 16 core courses while in HS: English 4 years - Mathematics 3 years - Natural/Physical Science 2 years,  Additional Math/English/Science - 1 year Social Science 2 years - Additional courses from any of these areas - 4 years

There are some different regulations for those wishing to participate in D2 athletics.

The chart listed here shows both D1 and D2 requirements as shown on collegeboard.com.

Division I: 16 Core Courses	Division II: 14 Core Courses (if enrolling prior to August 1, 2013) 16 Core Courses (if enrolling on or after August 1, 2013)
4 years of English	3 years of English
3 years of math (algebra 1 or higher level)	2 years of math (algebra 1 or higher level)
2 years of natural or physical science (including one year of lab science if offered)	2 years of natural or physical science (including one year of lab science if offered)
1 extra year of English, math, or science	2 extra years of English, math or science; 3 extra years if enrolling on or after August 1, 2013
2 years of social science	2 years of social science

There is a sliding scale for the SAT -- the higher your grade point average the lower your SAT score can be and, of course, the opposite would hold. High school students looking to play at the next level are encouraged to register at Clearinghouse ( they evaluated your core courses, determine your core grade point average and validate your.SAT scores. It is the rare athlete who will be offered a scholarship who is not registered with the Clearinghouse. All D! and D2 coaches have access to the Clearinghouse records. Do this right after your sophomore year and good luck.
