International students have 3 different types of visas which they can apply for:

F1 - Is a  visa awarded to international students that, are enrolled as a full-time student (or will be at the time of application). To be considered a full-time students, a course load of 20 credit hours must be carried each semester.

J1 - Is a visa awarded to international students that, are seeking "practical experience" in their given field that, is not offered in their home country.

M1 - Is a visa awarded to international students that, are going to attend a vocational program. Students seeking an M1 visa, must show that they will be able to support themselves financially as they are not permitted to maintain employment.
