Direct medical programs offer many benefits. Medical school in the US is the most competitive in the world, therefore direct medical programs appeal to many aspiring doctors.
However, they are not for everyone. BS/MD programs are highly competitive. Most students not only have top grades, but also hands-on experiences (clinical and research). Applicants must demonstrate their interest and show how they have fully explored this career path.
